Camp Maple Leaf – Terms and Conditions

Enrollment is subject to the following terms and conditions as well as availability of space.

General:

  • I, the undersigned parent/guardian understand that Camp Maple Leaf (hereinafter: the Camp) agrees to provide all the services as outlined in the camp literature, to the extent possible.
  • I, the undersigned parent/guardian have reviewed the code of conduct with my child/children
  • A formal acceptance will be e-mailed to the parent or guardian to confirm enrolment.
  • I, the undersigned parent/guardian understand that if notified by the camp director to pick my child up from camp that an appointed person or I will pick up my child as soon as I am notified. During this time my child will be kept safe and under the supervision of the directing or health care team.
  • If the camper has chronic illnesses, mobility limitations, life threatening allergies, food sensitivities or anything else that might have an impact on their experience at camp, I have disclosed all relevant information on the camper information form so that we can make my child’s experience at camp a success.
  • I, the undersigned parent/guardian understand the supervision model explained here: Global Supervision of 3:1 staff to camper ratio (this includes program staff and senior staff). During the daily activities a group of about 20 campers (mixed gender) divide every period into two choices according to their interest. One staff supervises each group at the activity. Depending on the activity, the group leader may be joined by an activity specialist. Nighttime sleeping 8-12 campers:2 staff. (Leadership program, our 14-15 year olds (will have less supervision according to needs of group) Staff sleep in the ensuites of each cabin. Once settled in their cabins for the night there is a time where the “Night Hawk” (Cabin Babysitter) is Supervising from sitting outside in a common area of a few cabins from 10pm – 12am. There are up to 2 one hour blocks of time allotted to “Free Time” Before each block, boundaries are given, rules reminded and safety counsellors spread out in place. (similar to recess in school) We also offer camper or counsellor led optional activities as a option.
  • I, the undersigned parent/guardian understand that Camper’s must be able to independently carry out all personal care with the guidance of a staff member. If they need hands on personal care please discuss sending a PSW or qualified non-parent caregiver. Campers must be safe to themselves, other campers, and staff. Aggressive or unsafe behaviour (to themselves, fellow campers or staff) will not be tolerated, and the child will need to be picked up. All campers must be independent enough to sleep though the night and go to the bathroom outside their cabin in a communal bathroom on their own or wake up a counsellor. Please note, Although we have a licensed nurse available, and all of our staff are first-aid and CPR certified, Jacob Island is an island and as such it may take around 40 minutes for EMS to arrive.
  • I, the undersigned parent/guardian understand that the camp’s main buildings and many of the sleeping quarters are wheelchair accessible with wheelchair accessible bathrooms. Most of the cabins have bunk beds and electricity, however, the bathrooms and showers are a very short walk away. Also the terrain is uneven, mainly bumpy grass with packed gravel pathways. There are various, random sizes of all-terrain, manual wheelchairs for use. Campers, Counsellors in training, staff and volunteers will be on hand to help push.

Photos:

  • I, the undersigned parent/guardian acknowledges that the Camp will take pictures of all participants, staff and Camp activities, and that such photos will be used in camp promotion including social media and our partnered camps promotional materials and will be shared with camper families. I the undersigned parent/guardian hereby grants permission to the Camp to use photos in the above manner.

Lost & Found:

  • I, the undersigned parent/guardian understand the Camp is not responsible for any loss or theft of the participants’ property. Please label clearly with your camper’s full name and we will try to match campers with their belongings. Please do not send valuable/special items in case of loss or damage.
