(“Camper” refers to any member of the family who is attending camp)

At Camp Maple Leaf we believe in creating a community focused on wellness, happiness, and safety of all participants. We recognize this can only take place in mutually respectful and caring environment. Therefore, we work very hard at creating a safe and fun environment.

Please read this with your family and ensure they agree.

  • I will act in a caring, welcoming, and inclusionary way to others. I will refrain from any behaviours that make other people feel uncomfortable. This also applies to any online communication via any platform both in private or in public settings during the summer and throughout the year.
  • I will respect other people’s feelings, ideas, and values even if they are different from my own.
  • I will try to have a positive attitude and contribute to my community.
  • I will respect other people’s cabins, personal space, and personal belongings.
  • I will use appropriate language, which does not include swear words, negative remarks, put downs, hurtful language or topics that would be deemed inappropriate at camp.
  • I understand and respect that Camp Maple Leaf is an alcohol and drug-free environment; Smoking/vaping must be done in our designated smoking areas for the safety of our participants and staff.
  • Camp is a peanut/Tree-nut sensitive environment.
  • I will respect the program rules of camp including but not limited to Waterfront Activities: All persons must sign in and out when taking a canoe/kayak on the lake during non-programmed hours. Lifejackets must be always worn when in a boat with no exception. No swimming is permitted in the lake, unless during allotted times. All waterfront rules and directions given by lifeguards must be always followed.
  • All medication is the responsibility of the parent. All medications (prescription or over the counter) must be locked up in the personal lock boxes in your rooms. (We provide the lock box). First Aid supplies and first aiders are available during your camp stay.
  • Campers MUST be under the supervision of their parents or counsellors at all times.
  • No animals except service animals on the island please.
  • Only camp staff are permitted to drive camp vehicles (boats, golf carts, etc.).
  • I understand that the camp’s main buildings and many of the sleeping quarters are wheelchair accessible with wheelchair accessible bathrooms. Most of the cabins have bunk beds and electricity, however, the bathrooms and showers are a very short walk away. The terrain is uneven, mainly bumpy grass with packed gravel pathways. There are various, random sizes of all-terrain, manual wheelchairs for use. Campers, Counsellors in training, staff and volunteers will be on hand to help push.
  • I understand the Camp is not responsible for any loss or theft of the participants’ property. Please do not bring valuable/special items in case of loss or damage. All unclaimed lost and found will be donated to other campers at Camp Maple Leaf who need items in future sessions. We do not have the capacity or the resources for them to be returned.
