Camp Maple Leaf – Terms and Conditions
Enrollment is subject to the following terms and conditions as well as availability of space.
General:
- I, the undersigned parent/guardian understand that Camp Maple Leaf (hereinafter: the Camp) agrees to provide all the services as outlined in the camp literature, to the extent possible.
- I, the undersigned parent/guardian have reviewed the code of conduct with my child/children
- A formal acceptance will be e-mailed to the parent or guardian to confirm enrolment.
- I, the undersigned parent/guardian understand that if notified by the camp director to pick my child up from camp that an appointed person or I will pick up my child as soon as I am notified. During this time my child will be kept safe and under the supervision of the directing or health care team.
- Each family is responsible for having 2 emergency contacts that are available throughout the duration of their child’s stay at camp and who can pick them up, if necessary, in the event that you the parent/guardian are unable to be reached. The emergency contacts should live no further than 12-hour drive from camp.
- If the camper has chronic illnesses, mobility limitations, life threatening allergies, food sensitivities or anything else that might have an impact on their experience at camp, I have disclosed all relevant information on the camper information form so that we can make my child’s experience at camp a success.
- I, the undersigned parent/guardian understand the supervision model explained here: During most of the day children are supervised in a global supervision model. Through balancing direct supervised group activities and less structured periods such as “free play” we aim to create an environment where campers have the freedom to explore, gain healthy independence and confidence while safely cared for and supported every moment of the day.
- Staff are trained in modifying programs to camper’s individual needs but are not experts in any particular special needs programming. Most of our staff are students, ages ranging from 17 to 25.
- I, the undersigned parent/guardian understand that Camper’s must be able to independently carry out all personal care with the guidance of a staff member. If they need hands on personal care please discuss sending a PSW or qualified non-parent caregiver. Campers must be safe to themselves, other campers, and staff. Aggressive or unsafe behaviour (to themselves, fellow campers or staff) will not be tolerated, and the child will need to be picked up. All campers must be independent enough to sleep though the night and go to the bathroom outside their cabin in a communal bathroom on their own or wake up a counsellor. Please note that while we have a licensed nurse on site and all Camp Maple Leaf counsellors are trained in first aid and CPR, our private scenic locations may mean that EMS response times may be longer than in an urban centre.
- While the level of wheelchair accessibility varies at each of our sites, we always work with families to adapt our facilities and programs to meet each camper’s individual needs. Our goal is to ensure every camper will feel welcome and participate fully.
- I, the undersigned parent/guardian understand that my child’s participation in some camp activities, including but not limited to swimming, canoeing, kayaking and canoe trips depends on their swimming ability as judged by the camp. They may also participate in archery, climbing walls, sports and horse care.
- I, the undersigned parents/guardian understand that in Camp Maple Leaf’s goal of “friendships that follow you home” give permission for my email to be shared with families of my child’s/children’s cabin mates. It will be the email used for registration. If you do not want your email shared you MUST email Charlotte Parsons (campsupport@campmapleleaf.ca) to opt out.
- I, the undersigned parent/guardian understand that Cabins are grouped by age and gender. I further understand campers are placed in the cabin that they most identify with. Furthermore, sessions that serve multiple camps may be combined by age allowing for the best camp experience for everyone.
- Camp Maple Leaf supports behavioural challenges, however, as our staff team are not behaviour specialists with no training in restrains, we are unable to accommodate children who are physically aggressive towards themselves or others. I, the undersigned parent/guardian understand that if my child is acting in an unsafe manner, an appointed person or I will pick up my child as soon as I am notified. During this time my child will be kept safe and under the supervision of the directing team.
Health:
- To the best of my knowledge, my child is in good health. I, the undersigned parent/guardian understand that I can’t bring my child to camp if they are showing or have been in contact with someone showing any of the following symptoms; cough, sore throat, runny nose, fever, vomiting or diarrhea. I understand that if they exhibit these symptoms upon arrival or during their stay at camp, they will be sent home until they have been symptom-free for 48 hours.
- I, the undersigned parent/guardian understand that all of my child’s medication will be kept in a locked space within the health centre. Only specific medication including but not limited to epi pen, inhaler, etc. will be allowed to remain on the person directly.
Photos:
- I, the undersigned parent/guardian acknowledges that the Camp will take pictures of all participants, staff and Camp activities, and that such photos will be used in camp promotion including social media and our partnered camps promotional materials and will be shared with camper families. I the undersigned parent/guardian hereby grants permission to the Camp to use photos in the above manner.
Lost & Found:
- I, the undersigned parent/guardian understand the Camp is not responsible for any loss or theft of the participants’ property. Please label clearly with your camper’s full name and we will try to match campers with their belongings. Please do not send valuable/special items in case of loss or damage. All leftover lost and found will be donated to other campers at Camp Maple Leaf who need items in future sessions. We do not have the capacity or the resources for them to be returned.
